COOKERY COURSES - THINGS TO DO IN HANOI - HANOI CUISINE

Would you like to be able to return home from your time in Vietnam, to dazzle your family and friends with mouth-watering delicacies like Banana Flower Salad, Phở, Bun Cha and Fresh Spring Rolls? Are you looking for things to do in Hanoi?

With us you can learn to cook Vietnam’s most iconic dishes in our tranquil garden in the middle of the bustling city.

Our cookery courses consist of some of the most popular and authentically Vietnamese dishes. All recipes are prepared using ingredients that can be found in most well stocked Asian grocery stores, so you can easily replicate them in your own kitchen.

Not only do we show you how to cook the dishes but also introduce Vietnamese culture through out the course. We show a short movie that demonstrates traditional Vietnamese kitchen; by explaining the importance of rice and its cultural significance; the different spices, when and how they are used; the market; and of course fish sauce.

The secret of our ingredients will be revealed. The power of spices and herbs and how we use them also could be something new and exciting for you. Nothing better to learn about 1 country than through their food especially through the cooking class with local family cook. It would be more than just food and cookery courses. But also somethings about the charaters hidden behind. And you only could see and feel it once you join with someone  expert.

The kitchen is located in a small and green garden will give you a relax moment away from busy streets. Our kitchen has traditional concept just like our mothers' kitchens in the old day

The first guest to book may choose from one of these 6 different menus (so book early if you have a special request). This is a great idea if you are looking for things to do in Hanoi

EGG COFFEE

Coffee was introduced to Vietnam in the early 1900 by the French. Then slowly it becomes a very popular drink here. Coffee with egg sounds a little bit weird but actually, it has amazing flavor. It is not a drink but becomes a cool dessert as well. The legend of the Egg coffee started in 1946 after the Second World War finished with the problem of getting imported fresh milk in Vietnam. So a bartender who made coffee at that time invented a new way of drinking coffee with what we have a lot here: Eggs and sugar. So you now then could be able to witness the beauty of “Vietnamese Latte” with its special texture and flavor.

When people talk about popular dishes in Hanoi, they almost always will mention these two outstanding dishes: Chả cá Lã vọng and Bánh tôm Hồ Tây. Chả cá Lã vọng has a beautiful symphony of spice and herbs grilled with its fish, while Bánh tôm Hồ Tây holds the perfect balance between Western and Vietnamese flavours in its fried shrimp cakes. It's a special must-have experience when exploring Hanoian street foods!

Tết, especially in the North of Vietnam, is very formal. There are certain traditions we must uphold, such as the kind of food we serve. Most families have the same menu, using the same ingredients used regularly in everyday cooking. However, we celebrate Tết for around a week, so even delicious dishes can become dull to eat.

For fresh and exciting New Year, we have decided to switch out traditional ingredients for something more unique for the holiday. Each dish was carefully thought out to bring out its colour and flavour, while still connected to the roots of true Northern Vietnamese cuisine.

  • Bún Thang - Noodles in savoury chicken broth, topped with eggs, Vietnamese ham, wasabi root and shiitake mushrooms.

  • Món Cuốn Kiểu Hà Nội - Hanoian summer rolls filled with fresh shrimps, pork and a variety of tropical herbs.

  • Gỏi Gà - Refreshing salad made with chicken, onions and Vietnamese mint.

  • Nước Chấm Kiểu Hà Nội - Hanoian dipping sauce.
